| It is hard to believe that she is gone, Our big, beautiful Lindi dog, Her thick white fur was as soft as a puppy's To the end. Her strong forelegs could lift her huge chest, To the end. Her spirit proclaimed loyalty, love and hope, To the end. When she felt weak and miserable She managed to hide it, Until nearly the end. Such was her calm, dignified presence And courage, that We did not see how sick she was, Until the end. |
Of course we must try in our minds To celebrate her life and accomplishments Of course we must fondly recall Her lovable ways. We cannot ever forget Her regal disposition, Her quiet self-command, Her steadfast sit beside the breakfast table, Her reposed acceptance of love. But it is too soon for much of that: The big, soft girl we could wrap our arms around Is no longer here, And fond memories cannot yet Fill the sad emptiness in our hearts. |

Bred by Rosemarie Duerr and descended from Ashridge Lancelot, I acquired Maudie at seven weeks of age and she grew up to produce two beautiful litters. She was the mother of CH Ashridge Admiral Wager, CD, and Ashridge Lindisfarne CD, SH, who in turn are responsible for carrying on some of Maudie's finest qualities. After six years in which she was a big part of my life, she started a new life with Christopher and Tami D'Amico, who, with their children, gave her the care and love that every breeder wishes were possible for their retired dogs, but seldom happens. I am extremely grateful to them. As they were well aware, Maudie possessed a character which made all who knew her love her.
